Milk

Mr Harvey Milk

Tonight I went to see a movie that just came out, MILK.
Milk is based on a true story and is about Mr Harvey Milk who was the first politician in American history to be openly gay. He offered his life for equal rights and created history with his achievements.
This is an amazing movie that really reflects the world we are living in today with segregation and fear, for many different minorities.
If you have a chance watch this movie, it is truly inspiring and awakening.

It was shot here in Los Angeles by celebrity photographer Troy Jensen. The pose of the day

Something that I find is very nice to do when you wake up, have a break at work or school or before going to bed is to stretch. When stretching we are not only making muscles less stiff, we also increase the blood flow which makes us more alert. Stretching also makes the heart beat slower which realeases stress and tension.
This pose is called "Half eagle pose". It opens up your back, shoulders and neck.
Take a few deep breaths in this position and make sure you switch sides.
Better than any break-snacks on earth! :)

Daily detox

Almost everything that we eat and drink, the pollution in the air and stressful moments creates toxins in our bodies.
There is many things we can do to get rid of some of these toxins and one way is the Bentonite Detox.
Bentonite is a clay that will absorb toxins and as the body will not digest the clay it will pass through your body and take the toxins with.
Clay has been used for thousands of years to help heal soars and take toxins away.
An very easy but great way to daily detoxify your body.

Perfection for the lunch box

After some experimenting in the kitchen I think I did it, I discovered the perfect salad!
What you need:
4 cups of Organic Spring Mix Lettuce
1/2 Avocado
2 Spring Onions
1/2 Cup Almonds
1/2 Cup Goji berries (or Cranberries)
1 Can of conserved Kindney Beans
(Olive oil and 1 piece of garlic)
Honey
Balsamic Vinigear

Mix Lettuce, chopped avocado and onions, almonds and Goji berries.
Rinse and drain the kidney beans and put them in a hot frying pan with a little bit of olive oil and chopped garlic. (You can also skip this step and just put the beans in the salad without frying them.)
Let the beans cool down and mix in with the lettuce mix.
Toss the salad and sprinkle a little bit of honey and balsmic vinegear on top!
Perfection!

The flue shot

For the first time this year I had to grab that extra blanket for the bed last night. Fall is here in LA and winter is getting closer.
Winter means cold, flues and flue shots, but maybe this year you could try a different type of flue shots, the honey shot.
The honey shot can help you to get rid of menstral cramps, headaces and bad moods.

All you need to do is to heat up a little bit of water, as hot as you can drink it. Put in a little bit of organic honey and drink as a shot.
Honey contains healing properties and the hot water is the best natural detoxifier.
The thing to remember is not how much to drink, its how often and if used every half hour, during your awake time, you can pass up to 5 punds of mucus in 3 days.
So, as soon as you feel that tingle in your nose and throat try the honey shot!

Non-fat fat?

When I first moved to America I walked around alot in the grocery stores. The stores are huge and  have so many more things to choose from compared to Europe. One thing that I found and that I still use every day is an alternative to butter, its called Smart Balance.
It is perfect as a spread or for cooking and baking.
It contains no cholestorol (that causes heart decises), no trans fatty acids and no animal fats what so ever, it is all a blend of natural vegatble oils. It provides you with the healthy fats you need on a daily basis which can help you to develop a healthy cholesterol ratio.
It wont make a difference in taste so what is there to lose (except fat of course)?

A flying run

I want to tell you about my new favourite running shoe!
As a 25-year celibration Nike has developed a new Pegasus shoe.
Its not only amazing by its looks it will also give you superior cushioning and flexibilty.
Beacuase of how the sole is shpaed and seperated it follows you foot and it feels like you're flying. It is 1.4 ounces lighter than previous models and get the Nike+ device and you can keep track of every step you take.
Try it, fly it!

An energized morning

Feeling tired when the alarm goes off in the morning? Having a hard time staying awake during the day? Well, there is tricks to overcome these habits.

1. Sleep is very important! Make sure you get atleast 6 hours of sleep every night, some of us needs more sleep but try to not sleep more than 8 hours per night.

2. A few deep breaths first thing when you wake up will wake you up! Fill your lungs with as much air as possible. This will give your brain and muscles oxygen and a kick start.

3. Stretch your muscles out! Try some easy and simple poses in bed and feel how your body is getting softer and less tens. Perfect start for a perfect day!

The pose above will help with your blood circulation and will stimulate your energy levels.
Do it for about a minute and take deep breaths as ypu do it.

4. Drink a glass of water! During your sleep you sweat almost as much as you do when you're awake so make sure to dehydrate your body. (Read about Electrolyte enhanced water below.)

5. Finish your shower with cold water, as cold as you can stand. This will make your heart beat rise and wake all your senses up.

6. A breakfast with alot of protein is the base of the days energy. Oatmeal with fresh fruit and a protein shake is fantastic!

Try and feel the difference!

An amazing way to hydrate yourself after an intense workout is to drink electrolyzed water. It will hydrate your body faster and more effective than normal tap water. The perfect way to catch up and why not drink a bottle after a night out?

SmartWater is an example of electrolyte enhanced water. You can get it in almost every store and you can also order it online.

Yoga Sutra

In the modernized world we are living in many of us struggle with a sense of completion and happiness. What is happiness and how do we create it in our lives?
Religion and beliefs  have always been important for the human being. Through religion and different beliefs we feel that we belong to something that is important, it makes us be an important part of the world and whatever happens you will always have your higher power to fall back and rely on. Today, many of us are having an hard time to believe, for example in God.
David B. Barret's statistics on religion shows that over 146 million people around the world are atheist. This makes me think that, with all what we got in the western world, we all might need something to really believe in and to belong to and to follow to feel the importance in life.
A way that i peronally truly believe in is Yoga Sutra by Patanjali.

Yoga Sutra was written over 3000 years ago and is a philosophy on how to create happiness in life. Through following the books different steps, for example yoga practice, not collecting, honesty etc. you will reach the highest level of happiness.
An very interesting way to look at life and respect to yourself and people around you.
So if you belong to a religion or not think about what you want to create in life.

The philosophy reaches out to everyone and the updated version is written in several languages. You can find it on www.amazon.com.
